Derek McLeish

Mr. McLeish has over 30 years of domestic and international corporate management, marketing and sales experience in the areas of technology, and software. Prior to founding Carbon Sciences, Mr. McLeish was the President and CEO of Digital Interactive System Corporation, Inc., a digital distribution company, from 2004 to 2005. From 2003 to 2004, Mr. McLeish served as the President and CEO of Broadband Group, a consulting company. Prior to that, he was the Chief Operating Officer of NetCatalyst, Inc., a technology incubator company, from 2000 to 2002.

In his career as senior executive of companies, such as DISCover, Hasbro/MicroProse, The Gillette Company, Atari, Panavision and Activision, Mr. McLeish was responsible for driving innovative strategic direction and successfully creating stockholder value by developing new markets and lines of business. At The Gillette Company, Mr. McLeish managed a large manufacturing plant producing billions of high value parts per year. At Panavision, Mr. McLeish was responsible for worldwide manufacturing. He served on the Board of Directors of Amaze, the largest independent interactive game developer in North America. Mr. McLeish undertook his MBA studies at Pepperdine University and received his BS from the California State University at Long Beach.

 


C. Douglas Plank

C. Douglas Plank served as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Pepperdine University, Malibu, California through 2000. He served as the Senior Development Officer for the University's $300 million "Challenged to Lead" capital campaign. Mr. Plank also developed and coordinated the Seaver College Board and served as the Director of Alumni Relations responsible for both the Annual Giving and University Capital Campaigns. Prior to this role he served as Associate Director of Admissions and Director of Alumni Affairs at Pepperdine.  Mr. Plank was co-founder and director for several non-profit charitable corporations. Most recently the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, the largest non-profit organization serving America’s veterans seriously wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. Previous experience includes co-founding Terracom, Inc., Torrance, California, a medical management software solutions company serving physicians, medical groups, clinics and hospitals. He served on the Executive Board for the Western Los Angeles Council, Boy Scouts of America and the Executive Committee, Seaver College Board of Visitors.

Mr. Plank received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communications from Pepperdine University and has completed graduate level course studies in business administration.

 

Ron Pion, M.D.

Dr. Pion is a principal of The Pion Group, LLC, a Clinical Professor at the UCLA School of Medicine and Founder of the Hospital Satellite Network. In addition to Pelagique, he also serves as an advisor to The Galen Capital Group, The Laurel Company, TruCareMD and the Executive Impact Group. He is the Former Director and Vice Chairman of American Medical Communications, Inc. and Former Director of ABBEY HealthCare Group, Inc. Dr. Pion has been involved in the development and production of television, radio and other interactive electronic programming for health care professionals and patients/consumers for more than 25 years.

Dr. Pion is a graduate of New York University (B.A., Phi Beta Kappa) and New York Medical College (M.D., Alpha Omega Alpha). He is a clinical professor at the UCLA School of Medicine, and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

 

Bill Courtright, M.D.

Dr. Bill Courtright is a co-founder and partner of The Pion Group LLC, a strategic consulting group focused on revolutionizing the current healthcare system by applying information technology in its work with entrepreneurial companies. Dr. Courtright was formerly president of Health Technology Consultants, a consulting group that specialized in medical technology assessment and the integration of healthcare with the Internet.

Dr. Courtright has been an MIT visiting lecturer at the Whitaker College of Health Sciences and Technology, as well as the MIT Sloan School of Management. He was a member of the MD/MBA advisory board of the USC School of Medicine and School of Business and the Global Health Systems Business advisory board, and has been active as a member of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA).  He has consulted for EarthLink Network Inc. and served as a member Medtronic Medical Directors advisory panel. He is currently a member of the Association of Medical Directors of Information Systems (AMDIS) and the American Telemedicine Association (ATA).  He has been a featured expert on the local National Public Radio affiliate for segments on "Healthcare on the Web."

Dr. Courtright is board certified in internal medicine, having received his education at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and his medical degree at Case Western Reserve. He served as Chief Resident at University of Southern California (USC) teaching hospital and also has served as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at USC.
